दोस्तों,  Common Noun वे शब्द हैं जो किसी एक ही वर्ग या जाती के प्राणी, स्थान या वस्तु को दर्शाने के लिए प्रयोग होते हैं। दूसरे शब्दों में कहे तो, जिन शब्दों का उपयोग हम सामान्य चीजों के बारे में बात करने के लिए करते हैं वे Common Nouns है, जैसे की Horse, Book, Boy, City, Man, Garden, Teacher, etc.

Common noun (जातिवाचक संज्ञा) को समझने के लिए आइए हम कुछ लड़कों के नाम लें। उदाहरण के लिए रोहित, सचिन, विशाल, कबीर और राहुल। इन सभी लड़कों का अपना नाम है। और उन्हें इसी नाम से जाना जाता है। लेकिन क्या कोई ऐसा शब्द है जो सभी पर लागू होता है? यानी इन पांच लोगों के लिए कौन से Common शब्द इस्तेमाल किए जा सकते हैं? तो वे शब्द हैं लड़का, आदमी, छात्र आदि।

अतः इस प्रकार किसी एक जाति के सभी व्यक्तियों या वस्तुओं के लिए प्रयुक्त होने वाले शब्द Common Noun कहलाते हैं। इस उदाहरण में, तीन शब्द लड़का, आदमी और छात्र Common Noun (जातिवाचक संज्ञा) हैं और इन पांच लोगों के अपने खास नाम Proper Noun (व्यक्तिवाचक संज्ञा) हैं।

Proper Noun किसी व्यक्ति, वस्तु या जगह का अपना खास नाम है। जैसे, “Rohit”, “India”, “April”.  Proper Noun वाक्य में कहीं भी हो, वह हमेशा कैपिटल लिखा जाता है।

Types of Common Nouns in Hindi

English में प्रयोग होने वाले Common Noun को तीन भागों में विभाजित किया जा सकता है। इसके अलावा common noun एकवचन (singular) या बहुवचन (plural) हो सकते हैं। और वे countable या uncountable भी हो सकते है। हम उनमें से प्रत्येक को एक-एक करके समझेंगे।   

1. Concrete Nouns: ये वे nouns हैं जो भौतिक वस्तुओं को संदर्भित करते हैं जिन्हें देखा या छुआ जा सकता है। वे ऐसी चीजें हैं जो भौतिक दुनिया में मौजूद हैं और हमारी इंद्रियों के माध्यम से अनुभव की जा सकती हैं। जैसे की table, book, car, cat और tree. Concrete Nouns एकवचन या बहुवचन हो सकते हैं। और उनके साथ Articles ‘a’, ‘an’ और कभी कभी निश्चित चीज के लिए Article ‘the’ का प्रयोग किया जाता है।

2. Abstract nouns: Abstract noun को हिन्दी में भाववाचक संज्ञा कहते हैं। ये वे संज्ञाएं हैं जो अवधारणाओं, विचारों या भावनाओं को संदर्भित करती हैं, और जिनका इंद्रियों के माध्यम से अनुभव नहीं किया जा सकता। इन्हें देखा, छुआ, सुना, चखा या सूंघा नहीं जा सकता। Love, happiness, freedom, justice, loyalty आदि Abstract noun के उदाहरण हैं। इनके एकवचन या बहुवचन रूप नहीं होते।

3. Collective nouns: Collective noun को हिन्दी में समूहवाचक संज्ञा कहते है। ये वे संज्ञाएं हैं जो लोगों, जानवरों या चीजों के एक समूह को एक इकाई के रूप में संदर्भित करती हैं। Team, herd, flock, audience, family आदि collective noun के उदाहरण हैं। Collective Nouns एकवचन या बहुवचन हो सकते हैं।

Countable Common Noun in Hindi

Countable Noun यानि गणनीय संज्ञाएं। ये वे संज्ञाएं हैं जिन्हें गिना जा सकता है। जैसे - dog, book या chair. इनके एकवचन और बहुवचन दोनों रूप होते हैं, और इनके आगे संख्यावाचक शब्द आ सकते हैं, जैसे one (एक), two (दो), या many (कई). 

Uncountable Common Noun in Hindi

ये वे संज्ञाएं हैं जिन्हें गिना नहीं जा सकता। जैसे - water, rice, या advice. इनके एकवचन या बहुवचन रूप नहीं होते। और इनके आगे संख्यात्मक शब्द नहीं आते। इसके बजाय, some(कुछ), a little (थोड़ा), या a lot of (बहुत) जैसे शब्दों का उपयोग किया जाता है।

Singular and Plural Forms of Common Noun in Hindi

Common Noun एकवचन (singular) या बहुवचन (plural) हो सकते हैं। आमतौर पर संज्ञा को एकवचन से बहुवचन बनाने के लिए उसके अंत में “s” लगाया जाता है। जैसे,

  • Book - Books
  • Dog - Dogs
  • Chair - Chairs
  • Pen - Pens

हालांकि, इस नियम के कुछ अपवाद भी है। उदाहरण के लिए ऐसे nouns जिनके अंत में s, sh, ch, x, या z आता हो, उनका बहुवचन करने के लिए “s” नहीं बल्कि “es” जोड़ा जाता है। जैसे,

जिन nouns के अंत में “y” हो और उससे पहले का अक्षर consonant हो तो उस “y” की जगह “i” रखकर “es” लगाया जाता है। जैसे,
